Plan Review

The Engineering Division reviews new site plans and subdivisions for accuracy with respect to existing facilities, proposed utility design, stormwater management practices and erosion and sediment controls.

Construction Inspection

The Engineering Division inspects construction projects within the City limits including inspection of the installation of sanitary sewer, storm sewer and water mains, newly constructed streets, and other public improvements.

Erosion and Sediment Control

The Engineering Division inspects the establishment and maintenance of Erosion and Sediment Control measures, locally overseeing the enforcement of the Virginia State Erosion and Sediment Control Regulations.

Stormwater

The Engineering Division locally oversees the enforcement of the Virginia State Stormwater Management Regulations and the requirements of the National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System, Phase II regulations for MS4 (Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System) designation.
